About Myself
My name is Ethan Stevenson owner/operator of Deadly connections hunting Co.
I grew up just outside of Wellington which is the capital city of New Zealand. Having been brought up in a hunting family as I'm sure many of you reading this will have too. It was only natural I would take it up. Seeing dad come home after a successful hunt as a young boy running out with a bread knife to help butcher a deer.
As I got older I got to a point where all I ever wanted to do was hunt, I gave up on my personal sports and put my absolute heart and soul into hunting, going every weekend. I got myself a dog and trained her as an indicating dog to help find me deer while bush hunting in the north island of New Zealand.
I started a plumbing business in 2021 to allow myself to hunt more, by the end of 2022 I had done approximately 25 weeks of recreational hunting over that 2 year period. Which was great don't get me wrong but I wasn't making much of a living. So I decided to dip my toes into something I'd always dreamed of as a kid, becoming a hunting guide.
I contacted various outfitters with the main intention of working for a free range outfitter, which can be hard to find in New Zealand. I guided my first Bull Thar in 2022 and I was hooked, seeing how happy my hunter was gave me a newly refreshed take on hunting.
I started guiding with the best Free range outfitter in New Zealand in 2023. From here things started to fall into place and soon after I started guiding with an exceptionally well regarded Canadian outfitter in 2024. On to 2025 I filled the gap between guiding in New Zealand and Canada with guiding for an Australian outfitter and so doing the equivalent of 7 months of steady hunting between 3 different countries in a year.
Looking to 2026 I have started Deadly Connections Hunting Co. The purpose being to connect like minded ethical hunters with the worlds best outfitters to fulfil their dream hunts. While also introducing hunters to species they may not be familiar with and maybe spark interest in something new.
My Passion is Free range based hunting for the most part so all of the outfitters that I am affiliated with have a service based on this. Estate hunts are also available but there is a clear line drawn between the two and I do not blur that line.
